Abstract

Tanah adalah dasar dari sebuah struktur atau kontruksi, baik itu kontruksi bangunan maupun jalan, dan akan jadi masalah apabila tanah tersebut memiliki sifat tidak baik. Di Desa Cempaka Mulia Kecamatan Cempaga Kabupaten Kotawaringin Timur Kalimantan Tengah sebaran tanah di dominasi tanah lempung yang memiliki daya dukung rendah. Berdasarkan pengamatan jika musim penghujan terjadi penurunan pada tanah sehingga menjadi bergelombang dan rusak. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan perbaikan tanah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan pasir, styrofoam dan serbuk batu bata terhadap daya dukung tanah lempung, dengan pengujian sifat fisik dan mekanik pada tanah. Pemeriksaan sifat fisik memperoleh nilai kadar air 38,09%, berat isi tanah kering 1,42 g/cm3, berat jenis 2,70, analisis persentase lolos saringan No. 200 sebesar 67,99%, batas Cair 46,09%, batas plastis 25,60%, batas susut 21,85%, Indeks Plastisitas sebesar 20,49%. Berdasarkan klasifikasi AASHTO tergolong kelompok A-7-6 (13). Berdasarkan USCS tanah tergolong kelompok CL tanah berlempung anorganik dengan plastisitas rendah sampai sedang. Pemeriksaan sifat mekanik tanah asli memperoleh nilai CBRrencana adalah 3,80% dan nilai DDT sebesar 4,19. Pada variasi campuran pasir dan serbuk batu bata, nilai CBRrencana menjadi 6,45% mengalami kenaikan 69,73% dari tanah lempung asli, dan nilai DDT diperoleh nilai 5,18 mengalami kenaikan 23,62% dari tanah lempung asli.

 

Soil is the basis of a structure or construction, be it a building or road construction, and it will be a problem if the land has bad properties. In Cempaka Mulia village, Cempaga sub-district, East Kotawaringin district, Central Kalimantan, the distribution of land is dominated by clay soil which has low bearing capacity. Based on observations when entering the rainy season there is a decrease in the soil so that it becomes bumpy and damaged. Therefore it is necessary to do soil improvement. The aim is to determine the effect of adding sand, styrofoam and brick powder to the bearing capacity of clay, by testing the physical and mechanical properties of the soil. Examination of physical properties obtained the value of water content (w) of 38.09%, dry soil density ( ) of 1.42 g/cm3, specific gravity (Gs) of 2.70, Analysis of the percentage passing the filter No. 200 of 67.99 %, Liquid Limit of 46.09%, Plastic Limit of 25.60%, Shrinkage Limit of 21.85%, Plasticity Index of 20.49%; soil with AASHTO classification soil classification belongs to group A-7-6 (13). Based on USCS, the soil is classified as CL group of inorganic clay soils with low to moderate plasticity. Examination of the mechanical properties of the original soil obtained a CBR value of 3.80% and a DDT value of 4.19. In the variation of the mixture of sand and brick powder, CBR value increased of  6.45%, an increase of 69.73% from the original clay, while for the DDT value the value was 5.18, an increase of 23.62% from the original clay.
